D&egrave;s le mois de f&eacute;vrier nous avions d&eacute;taill&eacute; les &eacute;l&eacute;ments qui faisaient de ces deux soir&eacute;es au prestigieux Wiener Konzerthaus des &eacute;v&eacute;nements &agrave; ne pas manquer (<a href=\"http:\/\/jameshorner-filmmusic.com\/fr\/james-horner-a-vienne-un-evenement-a-ne-pas-manquer\/\">voir notre article<\/a>)<b>. <\/b>L&#39;argument majeur &eacute;tait la venue de James Horner. A l&#39;&eacute;poque il &eacute;tait m&ecirc;me annonc&eacute; qu&#39;il devait partager la direction de l&#39;orchestre avec <a href=\"http:\/\/jameshorner-filmmusic.com\/fr\/collaborations\/david-newman\/\">David Newman<\/a>.<\/span>\n\t<\/div>\n<div>\n\t\t<span style=\"font-size:18px;\">Mais <img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/jameshorner-filmmusic.com\/images\/vienna\/concert\/concertsalle.jpg\" style=\"border-width: 2px; border-style: solid; width: 350px; height: 262px; float: left; margin: 5px 10px;\" \/>finalement le 3 et 4 octobre, seul le fils d&#39;Alfred Newman dirigea l&#39;Orchestre symphonique de la radio de Vienne (<span lang=\"de-DE\">Radio-Symphonieorchester Wien)<\/span>. Pourquoi ce d&eacute;sistement de la part du compositeur de <strong>Braveheart<\/strong> ? Comme il l&#39;a expliqu&eacute; lors du Symposium, James Horner pr&eacute;f&egrave;re ne pas se tourner vers ses partitions pass&eacute;es&nbsp;: il les compose, les dirige puis les oublie en se concentrant sur les projets suivants. C&#39;est un artiste d&#39;une sensibilit&eacute; rare, orient&eacute; vers son avenir, vivant pleinement le moment pr&eacute;sent et se refusant &agrave; ressasser le pass&eacute; avec nostalgie. Ce mode de pens&eacute;e l&#39;emp&ecirc;che donc de se replonger de nouveau sur une ancienne partition pour la diriger en concert. La seule fois o&ugrave; il a d&ucirc; le faire c&#39;&eacute;tait en avril 2012 pour la premi&egrave;re mondiale de Titanic 3D&#8230;<br \/>\n\t\tLes admirateurs du compositeur venus en nombre r&ecirc;vaient sans doute de le voir de leurs propres yeux diriger sa musique &agrave; Vienne. Ce n&#39;&eacute;tait donc pas pour cette fois. Une petite d&eacute;ception qui s&#39;ajouta sans doute &agrave; l&#39;impossibilit&eacute; quasi-permanente de l&#39;approcher pour une photographie ou une d&eacute;dicace. Deux &eacute;l&eacute;ments qui ont peut-&ecirc;tre g&acirc;ch&eacute; la f&ecirc;te de certains mais qui n&#39;ont pas emp&ecirc;ch&eacute; &agrave; ces deux concerts de proposer des interpr&eacute;tations de grande qualit&eacute;. Revue d&eacute;taill&eacute;e. <\/span>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\t<span style=\"font-size:18px;\">[divider]ON TO NEW WORLDS[\/divider]<\/span>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div align=\"JUSTIFY\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm;\">\n\t\t<span style=\"font-size:18px;\">L&rsquo;&oelig;uvre de James Horner avait donn&eacute; aux organisateurs l&#39;id&eacute;e de retenir comme th&eacute;matique centrale pour cette ann&eacute;e les nouveaux mondes terrestres et extra-terrestres. Ainsi la premi&egrave;re partie du concert proposait un large &eacute;ventail de compositions &eacute;crites pour des &oelig;uvres de science-fiction avec les morceaux suivants&nbsp;:<\/span>\n\t<\/div>\n<div>\n\t\t&nbsp;\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n\t\t<span style=\"font-size:18px;\"><strong>Metropolis<\/strong> &ndash; <em>Prelude<\/em> &ndash; Gottfried Huppertz<\/span>\n\t<\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm;\">\n\t\t<span style=\"font-size:18px;\"><strong>Space Mountain<\/strong> &ndash; <em>De la Terre &agrave; la Lune<\/em> &ndash; Steve Bramson<\/span>\n\t<\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm;\">\n\t\t<span style=\"font-size:18px;\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><strong>Star Trek<\/strong> &ndash; <\/span><em><span lang=\"en-US\">Suite<\/span><\/em><span lang=\"en-US\"> &#8211; Alexander Courage, Jerry Goldsmith, Leonard Rosenman, Cliff<\/span> Eidelman,<span lang=\"en-US\"> Michael Giacchino. <\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm;\">\n\t\t<span style=\"font-size:18px;\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><strong>Gattaca<\/strong> &ndash; <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><em>The Departure<\/em><i> &#8211;<\/i> Michael Nyman &ndash; Piano&nbsp;: Stephanie Timoscheh<\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm;\">\n\t\t<span style=\"font-size:18px;\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><strong>A.I.<\/strong> &#8211; <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><em>Where Dreams Are Made<\/em> &ndash; Voix : Ildik&oacute; Raimondi <\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/div>\n<div>\n\t\t<span style=\"font-size:18px;\"><strong>Independence<\/strong><span lang=\"en-US\"><strong> Day<\/strong> &ndash; <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><em>Suite<\/em> &ndash; David Arnold<\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div>\n\t\t&nbsp;\n\t<\/div>\n<div align=\"JUSTIFY\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm;\">\n\t\t<span style=\"font-size:18px;\">Apr&egrave;s la traditionnelle <strong>&laquo;&nbsp;Hollywood In Vienna&nbsp;&raquo; Fanfare<\/strong> compos&eacute;e par Bruce Broughton &agrave; partir d&#39;un th&egrave;me de Max Steiner, la pr&eacute;sentation de la th&eacute;matique <strong>On To New Worlds <\/strong>se fit au terme de l&#39;&eacute;l&eacute;vation solennelle du court <i>Prelude<\/i> tir&eacute;e de Metropolis. Les deux &eacute;l&eacute;ments frappants qui se d&eacute;gag&egrave;rent de ces introductions furent la capacit&eacute; de l&#39;orchestre &agrave; d&eacute;ployer une gamme d&#39;intensit&eacute;s musicales &eacute;tendue, puis la superbe id&eacute;e de projeter les images des films sur quatre grandes toiles verticales intercal&eacute;es entre chacune des colonnes du mur &agrave; l&#39;arri&egrave;re de la sc&egrave;ne de la <i>Gro&szlig;er Saal. <\/i>Compar&eacute;e aux ann&eacute;es pr&eacute;c&eacute;dentes, la surface de projection &eacute;tait ainsi d&eacute;multipli&eacute;e et offrait une immersion optimale. L&#39;apparition progressive de la cit&eacute; futuriste invent&eacute;e par le r&eacute;alisateur autrichien Fritz Lang lors du morceau de Gottfried Huppertz fut ainsi du plus bel effet.<\/span>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div align=\"JUSTIFY\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm;\">\n\t\t<span style=\"font-size:18px;\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/jameshorner-filmmusic.com\/images\/vienna\/concert\/cor.png\" style=\"width: 350px; height: 198px; border-width: 2px; border-style: solid; margin: 5px 10px; float: right;\" \/>L&#39;interpr&eacute;tation de la composition de <a href=\"http:\/\/jameshorner-filmmusic.com\/collaborations\/steven-bramson\/\">Steve Bramson<\/a> pour l&#39;attraction <strong>Space Mountain <\/strong>des parcs Walt Disney confirma ces bonnes premi&egrave;res impressions. Le jeu impeccable de la section des cors apporta son lot de promesses pour la seconde partie consacr&eacute;e aux compositions de James Horner, qui ont l&#39;habitude d&#39;utiliser g&eacute;n&eacute;reusement la chaleur de cet instrument. La mont&eacute;e sur sc&egrave;ne de <a href=\"http:\/\/jameshorner-filmmusic.com\/collaborations\/steven-bramson\/\">Steve Bramson<\/a> &agrave; la fin du morceau rajouta un cachet non n&eacute;gligeable&nbsp;: Hollywood &eacute;tait bien &agrave; Vienne&nbsp;!<\/span>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\t\t<span style=\"font-size:18px;\">La suite consacr&eacute;e &agrave; la s&eacute;rie t&eacute;l&eacute;vis&eacute;e et cin&eacute;matographique <strong>Star Trek<\/strong>, concoct&eacute;e par Ehich Hofmann expert en musique de films, proposa un &eacute;ventail tr&egrave;s appr&eacute;ciable de compositeurs. Ainsi &agrave; c&ocirc;t&eacute; des th&egrave;mes iconiques d&#39;Alexander Courage, de Jerry Goldsmith et de Michael Giacchino, nous avons pu profiter des qualit&eacute;s m&eacute;lodiques du travail de Leonard Rosenman et de la virtuosit&eacute; &eacute;pique &eacute;labor&eacute;e par Cliff Eidelman pour les aventures intergalactiques de l&#39;USS Enterprise. Deux compositeurs dont la participation &agrave; l&#39;aventure musicale de la s&eacute;rie est moins connue mais qui m&eacute;ritaient amplement leur place dans cette suite.<\/span>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div align=\"JUSTIFY\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm;\">\n\t\t<span style=\"font-size:18px;\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/jameshorner-filmmusic.com\/images\/vienna\/concert\/gattaca.png\" style=\"width: 350px; height: 198px; border-width: 2px; border-style: solid; margin: 5px 10px; float: left;\" \/>Le morceau tir&eacute; de <strong>Gattaca<\/strong> apporta une douceur bienvenue. La pianiste Stephanie Timoscheh, accompagn&eacute;e par des cordes m&eacute;lancoliques interpr&eacute;ta brillamment la m&eacute;lodie de Michael Nyman. Les images projet&eacute;es en ad&eacute;quation avec la musique rajout&egrave;rent une touche de po&eacute;sie ind&eacute;niable.<\/span>\n\t<\/div>\n<div align=\"JUSTIFY\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm;\">\n\t\t<span style=\"font-size:18px;\">Puis vient le sommet &eacute;motionnel de cette premi&egrave;re partie. La gracieuse soprano Ildik&oacute; Raimondi fit sa premi&egrave;re apparition sur sc&egrave;ne pour nous offrir une magnifique interpr&eacute;tation d&#39;un morceau &eacute;crit par John Williams pour le film <strong>A.I.<\/strong> de Steven Spielberg. C&#39;&eacute;tait d&#39;ailleurs la premi&egrave;re fois que ce morceau <i>Where Dreams Are Made<\/i> <img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/jameshorner-filmmusic.com\/images\/vienna\/concert\/ai.png\" style=\"width: 350px; height: 198px; border-width: 2px; border-style: solid; margin: 5px 10px; float: right;\" \/>&eacute;tait ex&eacute;cut&eacute; en concert. La quasi absence d&#39;images projet&eacute;es incita le public &agrave; se concentrer sur la performance de la chanteuse, qui, lors du final, bouleversa l&#39;auditoire gr&acirc;ce &agrave; la puissance de sa merveilleuse voix.<\/span>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div align=\"JUSTIFY\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm;\">\n\t\t<span style=\"font-size:18px;\">La furie orchestrale d&#39;<strong>Independence Day<\/strong> conclut la premi&egrave;re partie des concerts. D&eacute;fi difficile de r&eacute;sumer la riche partition de David Arnold en quelques minutes. Toutefois cette suite eut le m&eacute;rite de condenser &eacute;quitablement tous les aspects de celle-ci, tout en parvenant &agrave; reproduire fid&egrave;lement l&#39;interpr&eacute;tation originale. Un bel exploit pour conclure une premi&egrave;re partie tr&egrave;s agr&eacute;able.<\/span>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\t<span style=\"font-size:18px;\">[divider]THE WORLD OF JAMES HORNER[\/divider]<\/span>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div align=\"JUSTIFY\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm;\">\n\t\t<span style=\"font-size:18px;\">La partie tant attendue commen&ccedil;a par une jolie surprise&nbsp;: l&#39;<strong>Universal Fanfare<\/strong> compos&eacute;e par James Horner pour les 75 ans du studio. Les images d&#39;univers interstellaires qui l&#39;accompagnaient &eacute;taient splendides. Elles pr&eacute;c&eacute;daient un d&eacute;filement d&eacute;chronologique r&eacute;ussi du nom des films mis en musique par James Horner pour accompagner le final du morceau. L&#39;animation fut r&eacute;alis&eacute;e avant l&#39;&eacute;t&eacute;, ce qui explique la pr&eacute;sence de Rom&eacute;o et Juliette en t&ecirc;te de liste (voir notre article).<\/span>\n\t<\/div>\n<div align=\"JUSTIFY\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm;\">\n\t\t<span style=\"font-size:18px;\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/jameshorner-filmmusic.com\/images\/vienna\/concert\/muse.jpg\" style=\"width: 350px; height: 197px; border-width: 2px; border-style: solid; margin: 5px 10px; float: left;\" \/><\/span><span style=\"font-size:18px;\">Le jeune joueur de uilleann pipes Geza Frank fit ensuite son entr&eacute;e sur sc&egrave;ne pour interpr&eacute;ter le bouleversant <em>End Titles<\/em> de <strong>Braveheart<\/strong> dans une version raccourcie &agrave; quatre minutes donc forc&eacute;ment trop courte. L&#39;ex&eacute;cution fid&egrave;le et soign&eacute;e ne laissait plus de doute sur la grande qualit&eacute; de l&#39;orchestre. Impression renforc&eacute;e par l&#39;intervention ang&eacute;lique des ch&oelig;urs trop peu entendus depuis le d&eacute;but de la soir&eacute;e.<\/span>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div align=\"JUSTIFY\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm;\">\n<div align=\"JUSTIFY\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm;\">\n\t\t<span style=\"font-size:18px;\">Le &laquo;&nbsp;<i>Horner Medley<\/i>&nbsp;&raquo; comme il est nomm&eacute; dans le programme n&#39;a pas &eacute;chapp&eacute; &agrave; l&#39;inconv&eacute;nient majeur de ce type d&#39;exercice c&#39;est &agrave; dire proposer des extraits trop courts. Ainsi <strong>Willow<\/strong> se r&eacute;suma &agrave; une simple et unique ex&eacute;cution du th&egrave;me de Madmartigan, <strong>Aliens<\/strong>, <strong>Appolo 13<\/strong> et <strong>The Mask Of Zorro<\/strong> &agrave; une br&egrave;ve &eacute;vocation de leur th&egrave;me principal. L&#39;extrait de <b>A Beautiful Mind<\/b> &eacute;tait curieusement priv&eacute; de sa partie chorale tandis que <strong>The Rocketeer<\/strong>, avantag&eacute; par sa position finale dans le medley, eut la chance d&#39;&ecirc;tre le plus d&eacute;velopp&eacute; avec le th&egrave;me de Jenny suivi d&#39;une fanfare conclusive.<\/span>\n\t<\/div>\n<div>\n\t\t<span style=\"font-size:18px;\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/jameshorner-filmmusic.com\/images\/vienna\/concert\/somewhere.png\" style=\"width: 350px; height: 198px; margin: 5px 10px; float: right; border-width: 2px; border-style: solid;\" \/><\/span><span style=\"font-size:18px;\">Ensuite le chanteur Jeremey Schonfeld s&#39;installa au piano pour interpr&eacute;ter avec la chanteuse canadienne de R&#39;n&#39;B Deborah Cox, le tube <i>Somewhere Out There. <\/i>L&#39;arrangement de Werner Stranka &amp; Martin Gellner a mis en valeur la m&eacute;lodie imagin&eacute; par James Horner pour le film d&#39;animation <strong>An American Tail<\/strong>, sign&eacute; Don Bluth.<\/span><br \/>\n\t\t<span style=\"font-size:18px;\">Puis vient l&#39;heure de la suite d&#39;<strong>Avatar<\/strong>, partition complexe &agrave; reproduire en concert &agrave; cause de la richesse de son orchestration, tout comme il est extr&ecirc;mement difficile par exemple de restituer l&#39;int&eacute;gration du piano au sein de l&#39;orchestre dans <em>Bioluminiscence of The Night<\/em>. L&#39;arrangeur Victor Pesavento, le chef d&#39;orchestre David Newman, les musiciens et les ch&oelig;urs s&#39;en tirent avec les honneurs car leurs performances sur cette suite fut &agrave; la hauteur, notamment sur la derni&egrave;re minute de War tout simplement exceptionnelle. Jeudi lors du premier concert les percussions &eacute;taient toutefois trop mises en avant, mais ce fut rectifi&eacute; pour la soir&eacute;e de gala du lendemain.<\/span>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div align=\"JUSTIFY\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm;\">\n\t\t<span style=\"font-size:18px;\"><em>The Ludlows<\/em>, du chef d&#39;&oelig;uvre bucolique <strong>Legends of the Fall<\/strong>, a fascin&eacute; les spectateurs par sa beaut&eacute; pastorale et son romantisme poignant. Ildik&oacute; Raimondi a sembl&eacute; moins &agrave; l&#39;aise que sur le morceau de John Williams mais c&#39;est peut-&ecirc;tre car la voix de la chanteuse norv&eacute;gienne Sissel semble d&eacute;finitivement indissociable de cette musique. L&#39;&eacute;motion &eacute;tait palpable quand Deborah Cox s&#39;approcha les deux soirs de James Horner en entonnant les premiers vers de la chanson. Ce fut un choix id&eacute;al pour refermer avec nostalgique la fen&ecirc;tre ouverte pendant une heure sur l&#39;univers de James Horner.<\/span>\n\t<\/div>\n<div>\n\t\t&nbsp;\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div align=\"JUSTIFY\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm;\">\n\t\t<span style=\"font-size:18px;\"><strong>Gone with the Wind<\/strong> fit office de g&eacute;n&eacute;rique de fin des deux soir&eacute;es. La m&eacute;lodie de Max Steiner &agrave; jamais associ&eacute;e &agrave; la musique de film hollywoodienne &eacute;tait id&eacute;ale pour conclure ces concerts.<\/span>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n\t<span style=\"font-size:18px;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/jameshorner-filmmusic.com\/images\/vienna\/concert\/zorrowillow3.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/jameshorner-filmmusic.com\/images\/vienna\/concert\/zorrowillow3.jpg\" style=\"width: 2316px; height: 800px;\" \/><\/a><\/span>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div align=\"JUSTIFY\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm;\">\n\t\t<span style=\"font-size:18px;\">Niveau ambiance la magnifique salle &eacute;tait merveilleusement mise en lumi&egrave;re par Norbet Wofsberger, l&#39;accompagnement musical &agrave; partir de petites cellules tir&eacute;es des &oelig;uvres interpr&eacute;t&eacute;es &eacute;tait tr&egrave;s r&eacute;ussi. Magique.<\/span>\n\t<\/div>\n<div align=\"JUSTIFY\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm;\">\n\t\t<span style=\"font-size:18px;\">L&#39;humour n&#39;&eacute;tait pas en reste avec la tr&egrave;s plaisante pr&eacute;sentation faite par l&#39;acteur Gedeon Burkhard, la voix off, malheureusement en allemand, juste avant la suite Star Trek a eu &eacute;galement un certain succ&egrave;s aupr&egrave;s du public autrichien, tout comme l&#39;ombre qui recouvrait progressivement la ville de Vienne lors de l&#39;interpr&eacute;tation d<strong>&#39;Independence Day.<\/strong><\/span>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div align=\"JUSTIFY\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm;\">\n\t\t<span style=\"font-size:18px;\">Enfin la majorit&eacute; des images et vid&eacute;os &eacute;taient bien choisies et tr&egrave;s souvent en harmonie avec la musique. Mention sp&eacute;ciale aux superbes images accompagnant <strong>The Mask Of Zorro<\/strong><b>, <\/b><strong>Aliens <\/strong>et<b> <\/b><strong>Legend of The Fall<\/strong>. Toutefois il est dommage que les musiciens n&#39;aient pas &eacute;t&eacute; plus souvent projet&eacute;es sur l&#39;&eacute;cran &agrave; la place des longues images fixes, et que le passage tir&eacute; de <em>War<\/em> dans la suite d&#39;<strong>Avatar <\/strong>n&#39;ait pas donn&eacute;e lieu &agrave; la projection des sc&egrave;nes de batailles du film.<\/span>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div>\n\t\t<span style=\"font-size:18px;\">Pour conclure nous pouvons dire que les spectacles propos&eacute;s le jeudi 3 et vendredi 4 octobre au Wiener Konzerthaus de Vienne (r&eacute;p&eacute;tition), furent dans l&#39;ensemble d&#39;une grande qualit&eacute; gr&acirc;ce aux talents conjugu&eacute;s des musiciens, des arrangeurs, des chanteurs et du chef d&#39;orchestre.
