\n\t\tEn voilà un joli cadeau de fin d'année ! Après le superbe Gorky Park<\/strong><\/a> au mois de septembre les responsables d'Intrada, Douglass Fake et Roger Feigelson, nous offrent pour la période des fêtes une version étendue de A Far Off Place<\/strong><\/a> (Titre français : <\/font>Kalahari<\/strong> – 1993). Ce sont 35 minutes inédites qui nous sont proposées dans cette superbe nouvelle édition de 75 minutes soit quasiment une durée doublée par rapport à l'album original !<\/font><\/span>\n\t<\/div>\n

\n\t\tA Far Off Place<\/strong> date de 1993 année remarquable dans la carrière de James Horner puisque <\/font>dix films qu'il a mis en musique sont sortis cette année-là aux États-Unis. Ce chiffre exceptionnel s'explique tout d'abord par l'hyper activité du compositeur à cette époque, il était en effet un des compositeurs les plus recherchés par l'industrie cinématographique pour les films familiaux. Mais ce chiffre s'explique aussi, car bien après leurs enregistrements, trois projets ont finalement trouvé en 1993 le chemin des salles obscures. En effet Jack The Bear<\/strong><\/a> a été composé vraisemblablement en 1991, puis Le Château De Cartes <\/strong>(House of Cards<\/strong><\/a>), et Le Voyage d’Edgar Dans La Forêt Magique<\/strong> (Once Upon A Forest<\/strong><\/a>), datent tous deux de 1992.<\/font><\/span>\n\t<\/div>\n

\n\t\tUne semaine après Swing Kids<\/strong><\/a>, soit le 12 mars 1993, A Far Off Place<\/strong> sort sur les écrans américains. Coproduction Amblin et Walt <\/a><\/font>Disney<\/a>, compagnies avec lesquelles James Horner a beaucoup collaboré dans les années 80, le film raconte les aventures en Afrique de deux adolescents, Nonnie et Harry, qui se retrouvent orphelins à la suite d’une attaque perpétrée par des chasseurs d’ivoire. Pour leur échapper, ils décident, accompagnés d’un jeune broussard et d’un chien, de s’engager dans une longue marche à travers le redoutable désert du Kalahari. Pour ce divertissement familial assez sombre, James Horner livre une partition orchestrale diversifiée, qui exprime efficacement à la fois la tragédie vécue par les deux enfants, les nombreux dangers rencontrés lors de leur périple, et enfin l’amitié et le respect qui relient les différents personnages du film. <\/font><\/span>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
