\n\t\tAntonio Pinera & Antonio Pardo Larrosa sont deux Espagnols passionnés de musique de films, qui écrivent vite et bien. En effet seulement huit mois après la disparition de James Horner, ils publient un livre de 272 pages couvrant l'œuvre du compositeur. <\/span>\n\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\tAttention : ce livre est seulement édité en espagnol.<\/span><\/strong>\n\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\tAu programme, des préfaces du talentueux compositeur et orchestrateur Conrad Pope<\/a> et du président de Varese Sarabande Robert Townson, une courte biographie, une discographie avec les références des disques officiels et non officiels (!) et une description des œuvres du compositeur organisée en cinq grandes parties. <\/span>\n\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\"\"\n\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\tLa description de chaque musique fait une page et demie en moyenne. Certaines partitions ont droit à des analyses plus fouillées comme Project X<\/strong><\/a>, Field of Dreams<\/strong><\/a>, Braveheart<\/strong><\/a>, Bicentennial Man<\/strong><\/a>, Flightplan<\/strong><\/a>, Avatar<\/strong><\/a>, Pas de Deux<\/strong><\/a> ou encore Southpaw<\/strong><\/a>.<\/span>\n\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\tLe travail de synthèse est conséquent, les articles sont riches en informations sur les films et leur musique. La présentation est soignée. <\/span>\n\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\"\"\n\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\tToutefois, au-delà des analyses pertinentes des deux auteurs qui font tout l'intérêt de ce livre, vous n'y trouverez pas d'informations inédites ou exclusives, ou même d'extraits d'interviews.<\/span>\n\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\tDe plus nous pouvons souligner quelques oublis : Conversations<\/strong> (1976), A Forest Passage<\/strong> (2000), Flight<\/strong><\/a> (2010), Collage<\/strong><\/a> (2015) pour les œuvres de concert, A Few Days in Weasel Creek<\/strong> (1981), <\/strong>Let's Go<\/strong> de Douglas Trumbull (1985), <\/strong>Off Beat<\/strong> (1986), le rejeté Young guns<\/strong> (1988) pour les musiques de films ou téléfilms, <\/strong>In Her Own Time<\/strong> (1985), <\/strong>One Day in Auschwitz<\/strong><\/a> (2015) pour les documentaires, <\/strong>les différents logos (Universal, THX…).<\/span>\n\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\tCes oublis sont mineurs sauf pour Collage<\/strong><\/a> et Flight<\/strong><\/a> qui sont deux œuvres importantes.<\/span>\n\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\tIl y aussi un choix curieux des deux auteurs de prendre le temps d'écrire sur Sorceress<\/strong> (1982), Space Raiders<\/strong> (1983), Barbarian Queen<\/strong> (1985), Wizards of the Lost Kingdom<\/strong> (1985) et Andy Colby's Incredible Adventure<\/strong> (1988), cinq productions de Roger Corman sur lesquelles James Horner n'a jamais travaillé mais qui réutilisent la musique composée en 1980 pour Battle Beyond The Stars<\/strong><\/a>. Dans ce cas pourquoi ne pas citer également Raptor<\/strong> (2001) qui fonctionne sur le même principe ? Ou même la quarantaine de productions (films, documentaires) qui ont utilisé des musiques du compositeur comme les suites de The Land Before Time<\/strong><\/a>, ou encore le film Milk Money<\/strong> (1994) avec Ed Harris qui utilise un morceau de Cocoon : The Return<\/strong><\/a> (1988) ?<\/span>\n\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\tPage 29, nous avons aussi noté une petite erreur quand The Lady in Red (1979) et Up From The Depths<\/strong> (1980), productions Roger Corman, sont placées avec les films pour The American Film Institute. <\/span>\n\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\tEnfin les auteurs ont fait le choix de dater à 1975 The Drought, <\/strong>le premier film mis en musique par James Horner, date effectivement indiquée par le site IMDb. Toutefois, depuis plus de vingt ans ce film a toujours été daté à l'année 1978, ce qui chronologiquement correspond davantage avec le début de carrière de James Horner. <\/span>\n\t<\/p>\n

\n\t\tMais arrêtons de pinailler car l'effort fourni par ces deux auteurs est vraiment essentiel et important. Si vous comprenez l'espagnol et si vous voulez approfondir votre connaissance de l'œuvre du compositeur, c'est un achat hautement recommandé.<\/strong><\/span>\n\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
