\n\tLa-La Land Records<\/a> annonce la sortie d’une édition étendue et remasterisée de la partition de James Horner pour le film Jack The Bear<\/a><\/strong> limitée à 1 500 exemplaires. Bien que le film date de 1993, la partition n’avait pas connu d’édition discographique avant 2001, chez Intrada (Volume 3 de la « Intrada Special Collection »), avec douze pistes totalisant 47 minutes.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\tLe tournage de Jack The Bear<\/strong> s’est étalé d’avril à juillet 1991 (avec des scènes additionnelles mises en boîte en juillet 1992), mais la sortie du film n’a été effective qu’en 1993. James Horner a enregistré la musique en octobre 1992, soit peu de temps après le tournage additionnel. <\/span>\n\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n\tLe long-métrage raconte comment John Leary, un clown professionnel qui vient de perdre son épouse dans un accident de voiture, doit élever seul ses deux enfants, Jack et Dylan. Son penchant pour la bouteille le conduit à délaisser Dylan et à dénoncer son voisin néo-fachiste lors d’un programme télévisé pour enfants. Commence alors une série de problèmes, en premier lieu la disparition de Dylan. Pour illustrer ce propos dramatique, James Horner délaisse l’orchestre, préférant retourner aux synthétiseurs et à un petit groupe d’instruments (la flûte, le piano, le violon et l’harmonica). La musique se concentre sur le suivi des émotions et des sentiments des personnages et annonce la beauté des partitions intimistes qui suivront. <\/span>\n<\/div>\n
\n\t \n<\/div>\n
\n\tAu total, ce nouvel album présente 7 minutes inédites : <\/span>\n<\/div>\n
\n\tDad Watches Dylan<\/em> est un bref morceau où le piano tendre est interrompu par les sombres bourdons qui représentent Norman Strick, le personnage interprété par Gary Sinise. <\/span>\n<\/div>\n
\n\tApology to Norman<\/em> accompagne un dialogue. Le morceau est constitué de cordes synthétiques soutenues par les premières notes au piano du thème principal. <\/span>\n<\/div>\n
\n\tLe morceau Crying in Hospital<\/em> était disponible dans une version de deux minutes seulement. Il est ici présenté dans une version de six minutes. Cette version longue s’ouvre avec le son un peu désespéré des cordes synthétiques et des touches légères de piano, avant de monter en intensité jusqu'à un moment tendu soulignant une expérience traumatisante pour Dylan. Suivent ensuite les deux minutes éditées précédemment en 2001.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\tLe thème de la famille est une évolution du thème principal de Project X<\/strong><\/a>, partition de 1987. Il faut noter que la mesure au piano qui ouvre le film et qui s’épanouit pleinement dans l’avant-dernière piste, Jack The Bear<\/em>, constitue un exemple d'une musique originale devenu musique de source, une mélodie d’une chanson que la défunte mère des deux garçons leur chantait quand elle jouait du piano. <\/span>\n\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n\tNiveau technique le son est moins distant que dans l’édition Intrada, La-La Land a utilisé l'enregistrement digital dans le but d'éviter une partie du souffle inhérent à l’enregistrement analogique de la bande source. <\/span>\n<\/div>\n
\n\t \n<\/div>\n
\n\tL’édition originale d’Intrada étant épuisée depuis des années, ce nouvel album offre l’opportunité pour les fans de la partition de la redécouvrir dans une version étendue et remasterisée, et pour les auditeurs qui ne le connaitraient pas, de découvrir une autre œuvre intime de James Horner.<\/span>
