La musique est tr&egrave;s intimiste, cependant elle poss&egrave;de cette &eacute;tendue et cette ampleur propre au d&eacute;sert et refl&egrave;te par ailleurs un casting tr&egrave;s prestigieux. J&#39;ai collabor&eacute; sur ce film avec <a href=\"\/com\/?page_id=5065\">Jean-Jacques Annaud<\/a>, le r&eacute;alisateur, avec qui j&rsquo;avais d&eacute;j&agrave; travaill&eacute; sur deux longs m&eacute;trages. Il m&#39;a dit ceci &quot;tu ne peux pas imaginer la sonorit&eacute; du vent lorsqu&#39;il souffle et que tu ne peux rien voir, que tes empreintes de pas sont litt&eacute;ralement effac&eacute;es derri&egrave;re toi.&quot; C&#39;est ce qui m&#39;a interpel&eacute; pour trouver des moyens d&#39;exprimer en musique des concepts que le r&eacute;alisateur me transmet. &quot;Fais chanter la musique comme le vent&quot; ou &quot;rends la musique telle une ambiance nocturne, retranscrit ce que l&#39;on doit ressentir lorsqu&#39;il fait froid la nuit et qu&#39;ils dorment tous&quot;. J&#39;ai travaill&eacute; avec un chanteur Qatarien, une pop star dans son pays. Quand je l&#39;ai entendu chanter, j&#39;ai pens&eacute; que cela pouvait &ecirc;tre une grande occasion d&#39;utiliser sa voix d&#39;une mani&egrave;re qui le surprendrait. Ce que je veux dire, c&#39;est que j&#39;ai d&eacute;j&agrave; entendu des histoires de r&eacute;alisateurs qui utilisaient cette m&eacute;thode avec des acteurs et j&#39;aime beaucoup faire de m&ecirc;me avec les musiciens, c&rsquo;est-&agrave;-dire leur demander de jouer d&#39;une mani&egrave;re qui va &agrave; l&rsquo;encontre de leurs habitudes.<\/font><\/span><\/em><\/span>\n\t<\/div>\n<div lang=\"fr-FR\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm; widows: 2; orphans: 2; text-align: justify;\">\n\t\t<span style=\"font-size:18px;\"><em><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><font color=\"#000000\">Je traduis les sensations des personnages et j&#39;essaie toujours, avec la musique, de rester en de&ccedil;&agrave; de ce qui se passe &agrave; l&#39;&eacute;cran. S&#39;il y a une sc&egrave;ne de bataille, par exemple, je ne mettrai pas en musique la bataille elle-m&ecirc;me, mais ce que le personnage ressent. Il existe donc quelques fois un contraste entre la musique que j&#39;&eacute;cris et ce que l&#39;on voit &agrave; l&rsquo;&eacute;cran, mais l&#39;histoire sous-jacente ressort toujours.<\/font><\/span><\/em><\/span>\n\t<\/div>\n<div lang=\"fr-FR\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm; widows: 2; orphans: 2; text-align: justify;\">\n\t\t<span style=\"font-size:18px;\"><em><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><font color=\"#000000\">Je travaille sur une grande table d&#39;architecte. Je ne compose pas vraiment au piano. Je vois tout cela comme des toiles et non pas comme des sc&egrave;nes individuelles, alors j&#39;essaie toujours de visualiser les couleurs produites par les instruments et finalement le r&eacute;sultat ressemble vraiment &agrave; de la peinture abstraite. C&rsquo;est une tr&egrave;s bonne fa&ccedil;on de travailler avec un r&eacute;alisateur parce que ce n&#39;est pas n&eacute;cessairement un proc&eacute;d&eacute; cin&eacute;matographique et ce n&#39;est d&eacute;finitivement pas un proc&eacute;d&eacute; musical. Je trouve que beaucoup de r&eacute;alisateurs sont intimid&eacute;s &agrave; l&#39;id&eacute;e de parler musique avec un compositeur et la musique est la seule chose que la plupart d&rsquo;entre eux ne ma&icirc;trise pas. En termes de conseils aux jeunes cin&eacute;astes, je leur dirais donc qu&#39;ils essaient d&#39;employer un compositeur qui soit dou&eacute; avec les instruments acoustiques plut&ocirc;t que de compter sur les synth&eacute;tiseurs. Il est essentiel selon moi que le compositeur fasse partie int&eacute;grante de la narration du film. Les spectateurs sont aspir&eacute;s si la musique est bonne. Dans ma vie, je n&#39;avais jamais r&ecirc;v&eacute; de chanter pour un film. C&#39;est le premier film international de cette ampleur ayant recours &agrave; un chanteur Qatarien. La musique est dans le style B&eacute;douine. Elle int&egrave;gre le style oriental du Golfe Persique. <\/em><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/div>\n<div lang=\"fr-FR\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm; widows: 2; orphans: 2; text-align: justify;\">\n\t\t<span style=\"font-size:18px;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><em>Je suis all&eacute; &agrave; Londres, aux studios Abbey Road. C&#39;est l&agrave;-bas que j&#39;ai rencontr&eacute; le r&eacute;alisateur et le compositeur James Horner. Lorsque j&#39;ai chant&eacute; la partie qui m&rsquo;&eacute;tait attribu&eacute;e, ils ont diffus&eacute; la sc&egrave;ne correspondante. C&#39;&eacute;tait une sc&egrave;ne de nuit, tr&egrave;s silencieuse, il y avait de l&#39;anticipation et de l&#39;appr&eacute;hension, car c&#39;&eacute;tait juste avant la guerre. Il a donc fallu que nous utilisions la voix, l&#39;image et la musique pour donner &agrave; cette sc&egrave;ne le sens voulu.<\/em><\/span><\/span>\n\t<\/div>\n<div lang=\"fr-FR\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm; widows: 2; orphans: 2; text-align: justify;\">\n\t\t<span style=\"font-size:18px;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><em>C&#39;est une grande sensation de savoir que l&#39;on inspire ces pens&eacute;es. Je suis tr&egrave;s heureux d&#39;avoir &eacute;t&eacute; impliqu&eacute; dans cette exp&eacute;rience.
