Le concert donn&eacute; le 24 novembre 2011 par L&#39;Orchestre National de Lyon (ONL) touche &agrave; cette perfection et fait r&eacute;sonner en nous, encore longtemps, les accents tout &agrave; la fois h&eacute;ro&iuml;ques, chevaleresques, guerriers, romantiques, inqui&eacute;tants des &oelig;uvres de quelques uns des ma&icirc;tres de la musique de film. Parmi eux, James Horner fut particuli&egrave;rement &agrave; l&rsquo;honneur puisque pas moins de trois de ses scores ont &eacute;t&eacute; programm&eacute;s, faisant de lui le compositeur le plus f&ecirc;t&eacute; dans cette m&eacute;morable soir&eacute;e. <\/span><\/font><\/span><\/span>\n<\/div>\n<div align=\"JUSTIFY\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm;\">\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><font color=\"#000000\"><span style=\"background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% rgb(255, 255, 255);\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/jameshorner-filmmusic.com\/images\/articles\/ONL\/ONLlogo.jpg\" style=\"width: 187px; height: 182px; float: left; margin: 5px 10px;\" \/><\/span><\/font><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><font color=\"#000000\"><span style=\"background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% rgb(255, 255, 255);\">La musique de film trouve ainsi une place a part enti&egrave;re dans la programmation de l&#39;Auditorium de Lyon sous l&#39;impulsion de son nouveau directeur musical, Leonard Skatkin. La formation symphonique lyonnaise &eacute;tait comme orpheline depuis le d&eacute;part d&rsquo;Emmanuel Krivine, qui lui avait donn&eacute; ses lettres de noblesse. Ce dernier a en effet fait de l&rsquo;O.N.L., au fil des ans, un orchestre majeur de la sc&egrave;ne nationale et internationale. L&rsquo;Auditorium peine, depuis, &agrave; trouver un nouveau chef &agrave; la hauteur de cette r&eacute;putation ch&egrave;rement acquise. Tous les espoirs reposent d&eacute;sormais sur Leonard Slatkin, qui d&rsquo;embl&eacute;e marque de son empreinte la programmation de cette &egrave;re nouvelle en imposant les musiques de film comme pi&egrave;ces de concert et non pas seulement comme support musical inspir&eacute; des cin&eacute;-concerts, une tradition en terre Lyonnaise, berceau des fr&egrave;res Lu<\/span><\/font><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><font color=\"#000000\"><span style=\"background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% rgb(255, 255, 255);\">mi&egrave;re et des premiers pas balbutiants du Septi&egrave;me Art. <\/span><\/font><\/span><\/span>\n<\/div>\n<div align=\"JUSTIFY\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm;\">\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/div>\n<div align=\"JUSTIFY\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm;\">\n\t<span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><font color=\"#000000\"><span style=\"background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% rgb(255, 255, 255);\">Leonard Slatkin est une figure bien connue des m&eacute;loman<\/span><\/font><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><font color=\"#000000\"><span style=\"background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% rgb(255, 255, 255);\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/jameshorner-filmmusic.com\/images\/articles\/ONL\/Slatkin.jpg\" style=\"width: 180px; height: 246px; float: right; margin: 5px 10px;\" \/><\/span><\/font><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><font color=\"#000000\"><span style=\"background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% rgb(255, 255, 255);\">es. &Eacute;l&egrave;ve de Jean Morel &agrave; la Julliard School, chef d&rsquo;orchestre de dimension internationale, il s&rsquo;est illustr&eacute; tant dans la musique de concert que dans l&rsquo;Op&eacute;ra (il fut l&rsquo;un des prestigieux chefs du M&eacute;tropolitain Opera de New York). Il a &eacute;galement orchestr&eacute; de nombreuses musiques de films et a collabor&eacute; notamment avec Howard Shore, Alan Silvestri, Randy Newman et Michael Kamen. Il est actuellement le directeur musical de l&rsquo;Orchestre de D&eacute;troit et pr&eacute;side, depuis septembre 2011, la destin&eacute;e de l&rsquo;O.N.L.<\/span><\/font><\/span><\/span>\n<\/div>\n<div align=\"JUSTIFY\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm;\">\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><font color=\"#000000\"><span style=\"background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% rgb(255, 255, 255);\">Sa connaissance de la musique de film, qu&rsquo;il souhaite offrir &agrave; son auditoire Lyonnais comme un art musical &agrave; part enti&egrave;re, conduit tout naturellement le chef d&rsquo;orchestre &agrave; concocter, pour ce premier concert, un programme riche et original, qui se distingue de ce qu&rsquo;il nous est habituellement donn&eacute; d&rsquo;entendre. Comptant sur l&rsquo;oreille avertie du public l&rsquo;Auditorium, Monsieur Slatkin&nbsp; a choisi des &oelig;uvres surtout connues des amoureux de la musique de film. En effet, nuls clich&eacute;s musicaux &eacute;cul&eacute;s dans ce programme, mais des scores exigeants. <\/span><\/font><\/span><\/span>\n<\/div>\n<div align=\"JUSTIFY\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm;\">\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/div>\n<div align=\"JUSTIFY\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm;\">\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><font color=\"#000000\"><span style=\"background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% rgb(255, 255, 255);\">A la t&ecirc;te de l&rsquo;O.N.L. dans une formation restreinte de 80 musiciens, Ludwig Wicki officie comme &agrave; son habitude dans une direction d&rsquo;orchestre survolt&eacute;e. Le chef d&rsquo;orchestre Suisse Allemand n&rsquo;&eacute;volue pas ici en terra incognita. La musique de film est une passion qui l&rsquo;a conduit sur les chemins d&rsquo;une collaboration durable avec Howard Shore, Randy Newman et Martin Boticher. Il s&rsquo;est surtout illustr&eacute;, &agrave; la t&ecirc;te de diverses formations musicales internationales, &nbsp;dans une direction inspir&eacute;e et dynamique du <\/span><\/font><font color=\"#000000\"><b><span style=\"background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% rgb(255, 255, 255);\">Seigneur des Anneaux,<\/span><\/b><\/font><font color=\"#000000\"><span style=\"background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% rgb(255, 255, 255);\"> qu&rsquo;il a promen&eacute; aux quatre coins du monde. Entamant ce p&eacute;riple musical sur les chapeaux de roue, l&rsquo;ONL nous entra&icirc;ne sur les rivages du Hollywood de l&rsquo;Age d&rsquo;or et conf&egrave;re aux partitions m&eacute;connues de Miklos Rosza (<\/span><\/font><font color=\"#000000\"><b><span style=\"background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% rgb(255, 255, 255);\">Quo Vadis, Moonfleet<\/span><\/b><\/font><font color=\"#000000\"><span style=\"background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% rgb(255, 255, 255);\">) une amplitude et une rythmique euphorisante qui conviennent &agrave; merveille aux scores titanesques du compositeur. Les sections cuivres et percussions se r&eacute;pondent dans un dialogue &eacute;lectrique tandis que les cordes s&rsquo;illustrent dans des love themes &agrave; faire fondre les moins sensibles. <\/span><\/font><\/span><\/span>\n<\/div>\n<div align=\"JUSTIFY\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm;\">\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><font color=\"#000000\"><span style=\"background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% rgb(255, 255, 255);\">Nous passerons vite sur le <\/span><\/font><font color=\"#000000\"><b><span style=\"background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% rgb(255, 255, 255);\">Rebecca<\/span><\/b><\/font><font color=\"#000000\"><span style=\"background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% rgb(255, 255, 255);\"> de Franz Waxman qui reste difficilement accessible en dehors des images du film et de surcro&icirc;t, &agrave; mon sens, particuli&egrave;rement marqu&eacute; &nbsp;par le sceau des ann&eacute;es. Plus &eacute;tonnant et d&eacute;tonnant, <\/span><\/font><font color=\"#000000\"><b><span style=\"background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% rgb(255, 255, 255);\">Le Septi&egrave;me voyage de Sinbad<\/span><\/b><\/font><font color=\"#000000\"><span style=\"background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% rgb(255, 255, 255);\">&nbsp;de Bernard Herrmann. &nbsp;Nous sommes ici &agrave;&nbsp;mille lieues des ostinati de cordes obs&eacute;dants chers au compositeur, avec lesquels il a t&eacute;tanis&eacute; des g&eacute;n&eacute;rations d&rsquo;auditeurs dans ses scores &agrave; suspense. Ici, Herrmann se la joue Rozsa avec des accents &eacute;piques, h&eacute;ro&iuml;ques, grandioses, et m&eacute;lange subtilement musique symphonique et sonorit&eacute;s orientales sur une rythmique endiabl&eacute;e. L&rsquo;O.N.L. nous livre une interpr&eacute;tation survolt&eacute;e&nbsp;&#8211; cuivres, percussions et vents voguent toutes voiles dehors &#8211; qui cl&ocirc;t ainsi de mani&egrave;re magistrale la premi&egrave;re partie de ce voyage musical. <\/span><\/font><\/span><\/span>\n<\/div>\n<div align=\"JUSTIFY\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm;\">\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: center;\">\n\t<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/jameshorner-filmmusic.com\/images\/articles\/ONL\/ONLorchestre2.jpg\" style=\"width: 960px; height: 676px;\" \/>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm; text-align: center;\">\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/div>\n<div align=\"JUSTIFY\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0cm;\">\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><font color=\"#000000\"><span style=\"background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% rgb(255, 255, 255);\">La seconde partie du concert s&rsquo;ouvre de mani&egrave;re surprenante sur l&rsquo;<\/span><\/font><font color=\"#000000\"><b><span style=\"background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% rgb(255, 255, 255);\">Excalibur<\/span><\/b><\/font><font color=\"#000000\"><span style=\"background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% rgb(255, 255, 255);\"> de Trevor Jones, qui marque ici un trait d&rsquo;union entre la musique de l&rsquo;Age d&rsquo;or et les compositeurs de l&rsquo;&egrave;re moderne qui ont donn&eacute; un second souffle &agrave; la musique de film. P&eacute;trie de sublimes anachronismes, la partition est un m&eacute;lange entre sonorit&eacute;s actuelles et musique purement m&eacute;di&eacute;vale amenant l&#39;orchestre &agrave; s&#39;&eacute;toffer, comme dans l&#39;enregistrement original du compositeur, &agrave; l&rsquo;aide d&#39;instruments d&#39;un autre temps, dont une fl&ucirc;te &agrave; bec, une vi&egrave;le et un psalt&eacute;rion. Pour tous ceux qui connaissent bien l&rsquo;&oelig;uvre du compositeur et qui n&#39;ont jamais entendu le score autrement que sur un vinyl craquant, ce fut un pur bonheur d&#39;assister &agrave; une telle interpr&eacute;tation. <\/span><\/font><font color=\"#000000\"><i><span style=\"background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% rgb(255, 255, 255);\">Igrayne&#39;s dance, The Lady of the Lake<\/span><\/i><\/font><font color=\"#000000\"><span style=\"background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% rgb(255, 255, 255);\"> et <\/span><\/font><font color=\"#000000\"><i><span style=\"background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% rgb(255, 255, 255);\">End Credits<\/span><\/i><\/font><font color=\"#000000\"><span style=\"background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% rgb(255, 255, 255);\"> prennent alors une toute autre dimension. L&#39;Auditoire s&rsquo;est montr&eacute; &agrave; la fois &eacute;tonn&eacute; et &eacute;merveill&eacute; &agrave; l&#39;&eacute;coute de la musique de Trevor Jones le magicien. Ses th&egrave;mes musicaux, v&eacute;ritables filtres envo&ucirc;tants, ont su capturer l&#39;attention du public qui se trouve ainsi d&eacute;j&agrave; acquis &agrave; la cause du reste de la programmation.&nbsp;<\/span><\/font><\/span><\/span>\n<\/div>\n<div align=\"JUSTIFY\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.35cm;\">\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><font color=\"#000000\"><span style=\"background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% rgb(255, 255, 255);\">L&#39;O.N.L. encha&icirc;ne ensuite sur une s&eacute;rie de scores &eacute;voluant autour d&#39;un th&egrave;me commun: la Nation am&eacute;ricaine, qui s&#39;inscrit parfaitement dans le cycle de concerts entam&eacute;s par &nbsp;ailleurs par Leonard Slatkin consacr&eacute; &agrave; l&rsquo;Am&eacute;rique musicale qu&#39;il aime. Les trompettes de <\/span><\/font><font color=\"#000000\"><b><span style=\"background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% rgb(255, 255, 255);\">N&eacute; un 4 Juillet<\/span><\/b><\/font><font color=\"#000000\"><span style=\"background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% rgb(255, 255, 255);\"> de John Williams retentissent &nbsp;soudain et l&#39;O.N.L. tisse alors le tissu orchestral somptueux du <\/span><\/font><font color=\"#000000\"><i><span style=\"background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% rgb(255, 255, 255);\">Main Title<\/span><\/i><\/font><font color=\"#000000\"><span style=\"background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% rgb(255, 255, 255);\">. Un grand moment du concert, pendant lequel l&#39;&eacute;motion qui saisit le public fut particuli&egrave;rement palpable. L&#39;auditoire retient son souffle dans un silence respectueux. Les solos de trompettes &nbsp;et le rythme lent de ce <\/span><\/font><font color=\"#000000\"><i><span style=\"background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% rgb(255, 255, 255);\">Main Title<\/span><\/i><\/font><font color=\"#000000\"><span style=\"background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% rgb(255, 255, 255);\"> constituent <\/span><\/font><span style=\"background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% rgb(255, 255, 255);\">un contrepoint magnifique au d&eacute;cha&icirc;nement orchestral des scores pr&eacute;c&eacute;dant l&#39;interm&egrave;de m&eacute;di&eacute;val jonesien. La musique de John Williams transporte l&#39;auditoire et lorsqu&rsquo;elle se tait, elle laisse place &agrave; un long silence, preuve de son impact &eacute;motionnel, avant que n&#39;explose une salve d&#39;applaudissement m&eacute;rit&eacute;e.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/div>\n<div align=\"JUSTIFY\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.35cm;\">\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><font color=\"#000000\"><span style=\"background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% rgb(255, 255, 255);\">Apr&egrave;s le po&egrave;me solennel de John Williams, retour &agrave; une rythmique tr&eacute;pidante avec le <\/span><\/font><font color=\"#000000\"><b><span style=\"background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% rgb(255, 255, 255);\">Air Force One<\/span><\/b><\/font><font color=\"#000000\"><span style=\"background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% rgb(255, 255, 255);\"> de Jerry Goldsmith. L&#39;orchestre s&#39;enflamme de nouveau sur les accents martiaux et patriotiques du score, avec un Ludwig Wicki s&#39;agitant avec une belle &eacute;nergie sur son estrade. L&#39;O.N.L. plonge alors avec d&eacute;lectation dans les envol&eacute;es de cordes ch&egrave;res au compositeur, ces &eacute;lans horneriens qui provoquent les frissons et convoquent l&rsquo;&eacute;motion. La formation lyonnaise nous emm&egrave;ne ainsi sur les sommets de la musique de James Horner avec une partition &eacute;crite &agrave; la fin des ann&eacute;es 90, p&eacute;riode prolifique. Pour les auditeurs pr&eacute;sents qui connaissent l&rsquo;&oelig;uvre du compositeur, cette escalade de l&#39;O.N.L. sur les monts de la r&eacute;ussite hornerienne fut sans doute un pur bonheur.<\/span><\/font><\/span><\/span>\n<\/div>\n<div align=\"JUSTIFY\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.35cm;\">\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><font color=\"#000000\"><span style=\"background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% rgb(255, 255, 255);\">L&#39;orchestre nous entra&icirc;ne ensuite sur les ailes musicales d&#39;<\/span><\/font><font color=\"#000000\"><b><span style=\"background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% rgb(255, 255, 255);\">Aviator<\/span><\/b><\/font><font color=\"#000000\"><span style=\"background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% rgb(255, 255, 255);\"> de Howard Shore. L&agrave; encore, il a fallu quelques minutes &agrave; l&rsquo;auditoire pour se remettre de son &eacute;motion avant de gratifier l&rsquo;O.N.L. de chaleureux applaudissements. C&rsquo;est sur cette partition magistrale que s&rsquo;ach&egrave;ve la deuxi&egrave;me partie du concert.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/div>\n<div align=\"JUSTIFY\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.35cm;\">\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><font color=\"#000000\"><span style=\"background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% rgb(255, 255, 255);\">La troisi&egrave;me partie nous offre une programmation inhabituelle qui s&rsquo;articule autour du th&egrave;me de la figure du h&eacute;ros am&eacute;ricain,&nbsp;qu&rsquo;il soit une l&eacute;gende du sport, une &eacute;minence grise des math&eacute;matiques, un cow-boy de l&rsquo;ouest ou un alpiniste intr&eacute;pide. L&rsquo;O.N.L. nous offre pour notre plus grand plaisir une suite compos&eacute;e des morceaux <\/span><i><span style=\"background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% rgb(255, 255, 255);\">A Kaleidoscope Of Mathematics, Teaching Mathematics Again, The Prize Of One&rsquo;s Life<\/span><\/i><span style=\"background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% rgb(255, 255, 255);\">, ainsi qu&rsquo;une version instrumentale de <\/span><i><span style=\"background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% rgb(255, 255, 255);\">All Love Can Be<\/span><\/i><span style=\"background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% rgb(255, 255, 255);\">. La&nbsp;virtuosit&eacute; des cordes, &nbsp;les incursions d&rsquo;une harpe fugueuse et les gammes d&rsquo;un piano inspir&eacute; donnent &nbsp;ici de nouvelles couleurs au score, &eacute;tonnantes mais bien venues. Le verbe musical du compositeur, anim&eacute; de ses d&eacute;cha&icirc;nements orchestraux, va comme un gant &agrave; l&rsquo;&eacute;pop&eacute;e du Far West, avec toutefois des passages un peu kitsch qui nous rappellent que la partition a &eacute;t&eacute; compos&eacute;e dans les seventies. L&rsquo;O.N.L. et son chef survitamin&eacute; s&rsquo;en donnent &agrave; c&oelig;ur joie et nous livrent une version &eacute;lectrisante de cette oeuvre. C&rsquo;est avec la m&ecirc;me belle dynamique que la formation lyonnaise aborde les sommets vertigineux du <\/span><b><span style=\"background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% rgb(255, 255, 255);\">Cliffhanger<\/span><\/b><span style=\"background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% rgb(255, 255, 255);\"> de Trevor Jones. &nbsp;Les cordes s&rsquo;envolent sous l&rsquo;impulsion dynamique du chef qui sublime une partition d&eacute;j&agrave; grandiose. Elle ne se donne plus seulement &agrave; voir, comme accompagnement inspir&eacute; de l&rsquo;image, elle se donne d&eacute;sormais &agrave; entendre, le cin&eacute;-concert traditionnel n&rsquo;&eacute;tant plus son seul moyen d&rsquo;expression en terre lyonnaise. La musique de film nous donnant d&eacute;sormais rendez-vous en solo, tel est le pari de Monsieur Slatkin. Un coup d&rsquo;essai transform&eacute; en coup de ma&icirc;tre, &agrave; en croire la r&eacute;action enthousiaste du public pr&eacute;sent ce soir l&agrave;. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/div>\n<div
