ONLINE TRIBUTE TO JAMES HORNER, SEPTEMBER 26, 2020

ONLINE TRIBUTE TO JAMES HORNER, SEPTEMBER 26, 2020
Jean-Baptiste Martin
The American Society of Music Arrangers and Composers is organizing an online tribute on Saturday, September 26th starting at 12pm (PST). The ASMAC aims to promote the art of arranging, composing and orchestrating music. The event will focus on the analysis of scores composed by James Horner throughout his career: Star Trek II (1982), Willow (1988), Braveheart (1995) …

Several important guests are invited to discuss James Horner’s art of composition: Jim Henrikson and Joe E Rand who were his musical editors for more than 20 years, the composer Simon Franglen who collaborated on Titanic (1997) but especially all the music from Avatar (2009) and finally Steve Bramson who was notably orchestrator on Apollo 13 (1995).
There will be a special appearance by Sara Horner, the composer’s widow, who will comment on the composer’s career and life.

The event will be moderated by composer Dan Redfeld, who provided solo piano renditions of James Horner's music on the very pleasant album Braveheart: The Film Music of James Horner for Solo Piano released by BuySoundtrax Records (BSX) in 2017. Mr. Redfield will be joined by Tim Rodier, composer and owner of Omni Music Publishing, who had published the full score of Willow in 2015 and will publish a new composition by James Horner very soon.

The event is free and online. You can register through this link:
