Roger Corman (born April 5, 1926 in Michigan, Detroit) is an American director. He directed 50 movies and produced 400 ones. He discovered talents like Martin Scorsese, Ron Howard, Francis Ford Coppola, Joe Dante and Jonathan Demme. He established critical reputation with his adaptations from the tales of Edgar Allan Poe, and he also won an Academy Award in 2009 for his work.
