Wolfgang Petersen, né le 14 mars 1941 est un réalisateur et scénariste allemand.
Il a été nominé deux fois pour les oscars en 1981 pour Le bateau (Das Boot).
Il a connu le succès au box-office avec Dans La Ligne De Mire (In the Line of Fire) en 1993 mettant en scène Clint Eastwood, En Pleine Tempête (The Perfect Storm, 2001) avec Georges Clooney ou encore Troie (Troy, 2004) avec Brad Pitt.
