Brad Dechter is an orchestrator, arranger, composer, saxophonist and teacher who began his professional career in 1971; however his career in Hollywood began in earnest in 1981. Originally from Los Angeles, he grew up in a musical environment.
He orchestrated and arranged more than 230 films with composers such as James Newton Howard, John Debney, Marc Shaiman, Mark Isham, Jerry Goldsmith and Trevor Jones.
In recent years he also worked with Mariah Carey on her Christmas album (2010) and composed two concertos for jazz (piano and oboe).
As a saxophonist, he studied with the legendary George Coleman and played with Ella Fitzgerald, Charlie Ventura, Bill Holman, Bill Berry, Toshiko Akyoshi and Ray Anthony. He is currently the lead of the Brad Dechter Octet.
