Steve Bernstein was born in Colorado. With a classical background, he came to Los Angeles to complete his musical education. He has won five Emmy Awards as a composer.
He began his professional career in orchestrating music for well known worldwide orchestras (the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, The Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, The Sundance Institute) rebuilding music for films whose original masters were lost or destroyed.
He worked with veteran Fred Steiner for the animated series Tiny Toon Adventures, which opened the doors to the world of animation. He wrote the music for more than 250 episodes of series such as Steven Spielberg Presents: Animaniac, Steven Spielberg Presents: Pinky and the Brain, Steven Spielberg Presents: Freakazoid, The Sylvester and Tweety Mysteries, and Az-mania.
He had many projects with his wife Julie Bernstein. His name appears in the credits of films like Black Gold, The Spiderwick Chronicles and Windtalkers.
