The new version of Mari and Håkon Samuelsen's website has been online for a few days. The new website features a tab especially dedicated to James Horner. From there, we learn that the world premiere of the Double Concerto, composed by James Horner, will be held in November 2014 for the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra's 175th anniversary. Regarding this work, there's also a note from the composer, dated 2011:
"I thought it would be a great challenge for myself as a composer to write a concerto for violin and cello. I was also so honoured that Mari and Håkon, musicians of such high caliber and musicality would ask me to write a piece for them. All of the music I write is always geared towards writing expressly for film and the cinema. To be able to write a piece for Håkon and Mari and have it performed live many times was simply too great an opportunity to turn down. Although it is a little bit intimidating to write a new double concerto after Brahms wrote such a famous one so many years ago, I look forward to the challenge and beauty that I know will result."
