On August 25th 2016, a few months short of two years after the world premiere in Liverpool, James Horner’s double concerto Pas de Deux will be performed in America for the first time.
Mari and Håkon Samuelsen will be joined by the LA Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor Bramwell Tovey for the American premiere of the piece. The concert will be held at the Hollywood Bowl and in addition to Pas de Deux, pieces by Bernard Herrmann, Leonard Bernstein and George Gershwin will be performed.
Five and a half years after the Samuelsens first met James Horner in Los Angeles and approached him to write a piece for them, the concerto comes back to where it all began. For American Horner-fans, this is an opportunity not to be missed.

I can’t believe that this is coming to the US. The LA Symphony will do an amazing job.
I feel really sad that I won’t be able to go to that concert. Maybe this will mean that James’s concert music will be played more in the United States.
I sure hope his concert music is played more here in the United States. His concert music is the best.
