JAMES HORNER ATTENDS NORWEGIAN PREMIERE OF PAS DE DEUX

After having to withdraw from conducting Titanic Live in London due to a shoulder injury, James Horner returns to the conductor’s podium for a concert in Stavanger, Norway, on 13 May.

The main event of the concert is the Norwegian premiere of Pas De Deux, the composer’s double concerto for violin and cello, written especially for renowned Norwegian musicians Mari and Håkon Samuelsen. It will be performed by the two siblings along with the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra.

In addition to the concerto, a range of pieces from movies scored by James Horner will be performed, honoring his long and impressive career. James Horner himself will conduct two pieces during the concert: suites from Titanic and from Braveheart.

UPDATE 22.04.15: The Stavanger Symphony Orchestra has updated its event page for the concert, with details about the rest of the programme. In addition to the previously mentioned pieces, the concert will include music from Aliens, Legends of the Fall and Avatar. Also worthy of mention is Eric Rigler who will play the Uillean pipes and the penny whistle over the course of the concert.

Clara Sanabras (vocal talent in For Greater Glory and vocalist for the European Titanic Live concerts) will perform the vocal solo of the Titanic suite. Additionally, the local youth choir VIVA consisting of singers aged between 12 and 19, will perform in both Braveheart and Titanic suites. The rest of the concert, including Pas De Deux, will be conducted by Norwegian conductor Torodd Wigum.

The concert will take place in the Stavanger Concert house, at 19.30 on 13 May. Tickets are still available, and can be purchased at: Billetportalen.no
